Coca-Cola Cambodia Supports Irrigation Of Cambodia's First Regional Nursery

Phnom Penh, June 25, 2024: The Ministry of Environment has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Coca-Cola Cambodia to provide a solar-powered irrigation system for Cambodia's first regional nursery in Thbong Khmum province.

Minister of Environment HE Dr. Eang Sophalleth and CEO of Cambodia Beverage Company Limited (Coca-Cola Cambodia) Mr. Joseph Ho inked the agreement recently.

HE Dr. Eang Sophalleth thanked Coca-Cola Cambodia for the support that will help Cambodia take another step forward in achieving its carbon neutrality goal.

Mr. Joseph Ho highly commended the Ministry of Environment for establishing the regional nursery, stressing that the company's provision of irrigation system is part of its commitment to protecting the planet.

The CEO expected that the irrigation system that has the capacity to irrigate more than one million seedlings per year will not only benefit the environment but also encourage local communities and the country as a whole to participate in sustainable development.

This regional nursery is the first and is located in Preah Theat commune, O 'Raing Ov district of Thbong Khmum province.

The establishment of this nursery is guided by the ministry's Environmental Chakra Strategy 2023–2028, which aims to enhance Cambodia's environmental protection, conservation, and protection of natural resources to help Cambodia achieve carbon neutrality and 60 percent forest coverage by 2050.
